My Story
My world was shattered on September 1st, 1996. I lost my mother, an extraordinary woman whose brilliance and education were matched only by the vastness of her dreams for herself and our family. But those dreams were never realized. Instead, they were slowly consumed by a silent battle with depression—a battle that ultimately claimed her life through a devastating heart attack. Her depression was the result of the overwhelming burden of managing her married life and career. Despite her intelligence and ambitions, she set aside her career, a choice that weighed heavily on her soul.
My parents shared a love that was blessed by the universe, a bond so deep it was almost palpable. But even the strongest love can falter under the weight of unsaid expectations, monotony, and unspoken pain. As time went on, the love they had became clouded by constant fights, doubts, misunderstanding, blame, and distrust. Arguments became a daily occurrence, each one more bitter than the last, rooted in misunderstandings and unmet needs that neither of them could articulate. The monotony of married life and the weight of their responsibilities left little room for the passion they once shared, and soon, their relationship became a battlefield. The love that had once been their greatest strength became the most faded part of their lives, buried under layers of resentment and hurt.
Their conflicts began to spill over into their social circles, and what should have been private matters became public, adding fuel to the fire. Despite the love that still lingered deep within them, they were lost in a sea of confusion and pain, unable to find their way back to each other.
There was no one to show them the right path, no guide to help them navigate the complexities of their relationship. My mother’s depression worsened, and my father, unable to cope, turned to alcohol as a means of escape. Their inability to communicate and share their struggles led them down a tragic path. My father, heartbroken and lost, passed away just 1.5 years in 1998 after my mother, leaving behind three daughters—of whom I am the middle one.
The pain of losing both parents at such a tender age left indelible scars on my sisters and me.But from that profound pain emerged a powerful purpose. I came to realize that despite their deep love for each other, my parents were unable to navigate the complexities of their relationship. Their story, filled with love yet shadowed by unspoken pain, became the foundation of my life's mission.
